Our Curriculum

A School for Gifted Children

Nasri Academy for Gifted Children has an engaging, dynamic, responsive, and collaborative environment. With an advanced, stimulating, rigorous, and flexible curriculum (which sets no limits on the students), there are personalized goals based on ability, not age. The students are taught through exploration by using hands-on project based and problem solving methods. Students are also given the opportunity to have "classrooms without walls" via field trips to investigate and support various units of study.

The social and emotional well-being of the gifted child is of great importance to our everyday teachings. Nasri Academy believes in teaching to the whole child, by adding critical thinking to real world learning in the classroom with components of giving back to the community. Other areas of study include Robotics, Art, Music, Innovation and Design, and Physical Activities. A highlight for all our programs is Nasri's capacity to bring in guest speakers and special activities to spark the interests and the enthusiasm of the students learning in many diverse areas. Family involvement and participation at school meetings and activities focusing on the needs of gifted students provides additional support.

The Nasri Academy for Gifted Children Educational Philosophy is built around the Integrated Curriculum Model (ICM) developed by Joyce Van Tassel-Baska. Within the model there are three main dimensions: Overarching Concepts, Advanced Content, and Process-Product. ICM is the foundation of the educational philosophy at Nasri Academy for Gifted Children.

Overarching Concepts Dimension:
Concepts provide students with the opportunity to learn analysis and synthesis when looking at the overall structure of knowledge.

Advanced Content Dimension:
The content that students learn throughout the day are divided into Learning Academic Blocks (LABs):

Reading LAB
Writing LAB
Mathematics LAB
UNIT LAB
Science LAB
Art LAB
PE LAB
STEM LAB

Other Programs:

  • Entrepreneurship

  • Junior Achievement

  • Specialty Workshops

  • Parent Education

  • Community Service Projects

  • Robotics

  • Innovation & Design

Process-Product Dimension:
Within the process-product dimension of the integrated curriculum model, the focus is on providing students with the opportunity to focus on skills that specifically address the process of learning, as well as a variety of product opportunities for the expression of learning.
